The Social Networking Phenomena

2 September 2009: Since its inception, the internet has been all about putting people into communication. What started as a way for professors and students in one university to view the research work of professors and students half a world away has developed into everyman’s communication network allowing families and friends spread over the country or world to share holiday photos and lunch menu choices. This has been a natural evolution of the net. The reach of the web has spread deeper and deeper, to the point where a $25 throw-away phone can access the internet. Once that happened truely the net became everyman’s communication line. And with that explosion of use, has come the rush to keep up commerically with what is happening naturallly. Friends like to talk and stay in touch. Businesses like to be there where friends are chatting and sell products. The whole point of effective marketing is to be visible where your potential customers are. If there are huge communities on facebook, then the smart business man identifies which of those communities are his, and gets on board. Can you find where the lifeblood of your business is flowing? (Perhaps not the most diplomatic analogy, though with the pop-fiction invention of "vegetarian" vampires, perhaps not such a problem anymore.) More to come on the Social Networking Phenomena…
